Requirements

  • US Citizenship
  • Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in the organization, external vendors and contractors in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/ common access card.
  • May be required to pass background check and/or drug screen.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of Diesel Propane and Natural Gas Engines.
  • Ability to repair or rebuild engines of different make, size and models.
  • Computer testing and diagnostics.
  • Programing of ECMs and injector calibration on different engines.
  • Perform applied failure analysis on components that fail.
  • Understand fuel types and how to set them up.
  • How to perform overhead checks on diesel and natural gas engine.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Ability to trouble shoot engines.
  • Have at least two (2) years’ experience or training on such equipment (Generators).
  • Understand fundamentals of generators.
  • Maintenance and use of service tools.
  • Perform NFPA 110 standards checks on generator sets life safety and insure all perform as expected and or manufactures standard.
  • Use of ladder logic and one-line diagrams.
  • Programing control braker.
  • Knowing the use of voltage meter 480 volt.
  • How to properly set up generator for load and unload response.
  • Basic electric knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of generator controls.
  • Ability to use software for programing ECM and generator controllers.
  • Have basic trouble shooting skills on generator end.
  • Knowledge and understanding of restarting generator sets to set voltages 120,240,480.
  • Have working knowledge of voltage regulators.
  • Able to adjust generator controllers and system set up.
  • Hook up and load bank generator system according to NFPA 110.
  • Understanding of voltage drop and voltage gain.
  • Set up voltage regulators and tuning of the system.
  • Identify common components of generator.
  • Working with medium voltage generators.
  • Knowledge and understanding of paralleling units and switchgear systems.
  • Knowledge of disassembly and assembly of transfer switch mechanisms.
  • Diagnostics and trouble shooting skills of live circuitry voltages.
  • Have the understanding knowledge of both AC and Dc voltages.
  • Knowledge of programable logic controller system set up.
  • Ability to identify types of ATS/name plates and sizes of ATS.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to perform general maintenance on ATS switches.
  • Perform ATS testing with load and no-load settings with utility outage.
  • Understand operations of ATS system.
  • Perform thermographic testing on ATS.
  • Functional knowledge of ATS controls.
  • Ability to program ATS for generator control with 2 years’ experience.

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Work experience supporting a military base or civilian installation

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly run sheets.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) services on various generators each month.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on Various Automatic transfer switches.
  • Load testing generators (once year).
  • Perform trouble shooting and repairs on malfunctioning generators and AT switches.
  • Perform ECM replacements and programing work to install ECM, Injector replacement.
  • Perform daily paperwork associated with job performed.
  • Provide estimating for generator projects and develop material lists for repairs.
  • Transfer switch programing and screen replacements as needed.
  • Megger testing (once year).
  • Read wire diagrams and wire schematics.
  • Perform generator control work and programing.
  • Install new control systems for generator and ATS switches.
  • Emissions testing (with Analyzer) once year.
  • Response to routine and emergent requirements.
  • Execution of various tasks relating to preventative maintenance and demand maintenance.
  • Snow removal as a member of the installation snow team.
  • Timely, accurate, cost-effective performance of duties.
  • Compliance with contract requirements and CGS/CCSL policies and procedures, including Rules of Conduct.
  • Working closely and harmoniously with fellow workers.
  • Adherence to all safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Prudent management of Government Furnished Property (GFP) assigned to and under employee’s jurisdiction.
