About The Position

This role involves the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of generator systems and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) units. The technician will ensure reliable power solutions by conducting routine inspections, performing corrective actions, and implementing system upgrades. The position requires maintaining detailed documentation, responding to emergency situations, and providing customer support. The job is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and is with CBRE Government & Defense.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of generator systems, ATS units, and related electrical components, including familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing generator systems and ATS units.
  • Relevant certifications in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent technical training and qualifications.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
  • High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in maintenance records, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts, to respond to emergency situations.
  • Must be a licensed electrician with valid credentials and certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certifications related to generator systems and ATS units, such as Certified Generator Technician (EGSA) or similar.
  • Experience in managing projects related to generator system installations and upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission generator systems and ATS units in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and testing of generator systems and ATS units to identify and address potential issues before they cause system failures.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues related to generator systems and ATS units, including performing corrective actions and replacing faulty components.
  • Implement system upgrades and modifications to improve performance and reliability, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections, including generating reports and updating maintenance logs.
  • Provide prompt response to emergency situations, ensuring quick resolution of power supply issues and minimizing downtime.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing technical support and addressing any concerns or questions related to generator systems and ATS units.
