About The Position

VIA Rail is undertaking significant projects to modernize its services and infrastructure, including a new train fleet and infrastructure improvements, to build the future of transportation in Canada. This role contributes to the collective effort in sustainable mobility by ensuring the reliability and safety of VIA Rail's national passenger rail fleet. The position is ideal for individuals with experience in hotel housekeeping, janitorial work, or building maintenance.

Requirements

• Possess a High School Diploma
• Valid driver's license required
• Experience in housekeeping, commercial cleaning or building maintenance
• Ability to work various shifts (day, evening, night, weekends)
• Physically capable of lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Responsibilities

• Clean interior and exterior of passenger railway cars
• Vacuum, wash carpets, wipe down tables and seating areas
• Clean and sanitize washrooms, showers, kitchen, windows
• Drain and refill potable water reservoirs
• Drain wastewater retention tanks
• Perform duties outdoors in various weather conditions

Benefits

• Hourly wage: $34.36/hour
• Shift premiums: evening ($1.50/hour), night ($2.00/hour)
