About The Position

This position has five key operational functions within the General Warehouse role: 1) Transporting Product, 2) Freight Picking, Layer Picking, and List Reach, 3) Put-a-way, Bulk Pick and Replenishment, 4) Outbound - Loading, and 5) Inbound – Unloading. These functions/activities may be assigned daily utilizing one or more of the five types of Power Lift equipment/ MHE (Material Handling Equipment): Pallet Jacks, Forklifts, Stock Pickers, Reach Trucks or Layer Picker. This position requires training and certification on all four Power Lift/Material Handling Equipment types. This position must meet or exceed performance productivity standards as established by ABW in each functional area.

Requirements

  • Ability to multi-task and follow instructions as assigned by supervisor
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of documentation
  • Able to understand both written and oral instructions
  • Use of WMS (Warehouse Management System) computer software and the RF Interface
  • Excellent vision, depth perception, and motor skills required
  • Ability to stand for long periods - up to 12 hours.
  • Physical ability to bend, reach, and lift for long periods – up to 12 hrs.
  • Able to distinguish warehouse pests and document any sightings
  • Ability to operate the designated material handling equipment safely and effectively
  • Ability to achieve and maintain the required production standard for the assigned function
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Move product from inbound staging areas to the assigned aisle utilizing power lift equipment with RF
  • Inspect transported units to ensure the absence of obvious product damage or foreign materials and acceptable wooden pallet quality
  • Move product from drop zones to staging lanes supporting outbound shipments
  • Ensuring all units are properly labeled and stretch-wrapped to support product protection and stability during shipment
  • Understand Pallet Quality Requirements to ensure the selection of acceptable pallets
  • Inspects and sorts defective packaging/products during pallet builds
  • Supporting customer shipments through the assembly of requirements less than full pallet quantities
  • Build pallets with multiple products, maintaining case integrity during shipment with the accuracy of the count
  • Build pallets based on layer quantities, case size, and case weight to ensure load (pallet) integrity (protection during shipment)
  • Manually lifting and stacking cases for extended periods of time, following safe lifting practices
  • Lifting and stacking of up to 50lb cartons/bags for shift
  • Label, secure, and stretch wrap pallet for security of shipment – To completely protect the product from shifting and damage
  • Operate power lift equipment to put away palletized products into storage locations from designated areas
  • Operate power lift equipment to pick palletized products from storage locations to designated areas
  • Operate power lift equipment to pick palletized products from storage locations to designated areas
  • Working within narrow aisles, using excellent vision and motor skills
  • Operates power lift equipment to load trailers and containers
  • Follows all dock safety procedures, including trailer restraint engaged and the tractor disconnected prior to entering the trailer
  • Performs trailer inspections to confirm acceptability to customer requirements prior to loading
  • Verifies trailer refer is properly set and functioning properly before loading
  • Follows loading training and any special instructions for the shipment
  • Ensure completion of Outbound Cover Sheet for shipment
  • Ensure all pallets and products meet customer requirements before loading, including pallet quality, absence of foreign materials
  • Scans only pallets as loaded into the trailer
  • Utilize WMS to assist in determining loading sequence and weight distribution
  • Applies dunnage as needed (airbags, stretch wrap, wood core, etc.) to secure load and minimize transit damage
  • Report any nonconforming issues to the Shift Lead.
  • Operate power lift equipment to unload trailers and containers
  • Follows all dock safety procedures, including trailer restraint engaged and the tractor disconnected prior to entering the trailer
  • Utilizes push-pull equipment to manage slip sheet loads.
  • Confirms trailer number and seal numbers as compared to BOL, removes and discards to trash
  • Conducts trailer inspection and documents results on Inbound Cover Sheet. Reports any deviations or noncompliance to Shift Lead
  • Unload products using power lift equipment for inspection and labeling
  • Inspect inbound shipments to confirm the item, code date, and quantity accuracy
  • Apply preprinted pallet labels matching HU labels
  • Identify, remove, and document any damage found on BOL
  • Stretch-wrap product as needed using hand wrap to secure loads
  • Scan all pallets to the designated area
  • Keep work areas free of wood and other debris clean throughout the shift
  • Inspect assigned power lift equipment (MHE) to ensure proper working order and document as required before use
  • Report all defective equipment to the Shift Lead immediately, and “Red Tag” unit
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety procedures and guidelines
  • Other assignments by the Shift Supervisor
