About The Position

Receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments by performing the following duties. This role involves reading production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. The associate will convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas, and sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to a predetermined sequence. They will also sort and store perishable goods in refrigerated rooms, fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute them. Assembling customer orders from stock and placing them on pallets or shelves, or conveying them to packing or shipping departments is also a key function. The role requires marking materials with identifying information, opening bales, crates, and other containers, and recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Weighing or counting items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards, and arranging stock parts in a specified sequence for assembly by other workers are also part of the duties. The associate will use a computer to enter records, compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications, and drive a vehicle to transport stored items from the warehouse to the plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment. Completing requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments, preparing parcels for mailing, and maintaining inventory records are also included. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluency in English; speak, read, and write.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.
