About The Position

Help build a healthier, more equitable community! At Carlington CHC, we believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate care and support. We’re looking for volunteers who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people in our community — including those who experience barriers such as poverty, homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use. As a Volunteer, you’ll contribute to programs and initiatives that promote health, inclusion, and empowerment for individuals and families across our diverse community.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Willingness to commit to a regular volunteer schedule.
  • Basic understanding of community service and volunteerism.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork are essential for interacting with community members and collaborating with staff and volunteers daily.
  • Organizational skills help manage event logistics and administrative tasks efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous volunteer experience in community or nonprofit settings.
  • Additional language skills relevant to the local community.
  • Familiarity with basic computer applications such as email and word processing.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to adapt to various tasks and work independently when required.
  • Additional language abilities and computer literacy enhance your capacity to serve a broader community and support digital record-keeping.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills enable you to handle diverse responsibilities and unexpected challenges during events or daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, setup, coordination, and cleanup of community events, programs, and activities.
  • Support staff and fellow volunteers with day-to-day program and operational tasks.
  • Welcome and engage with community members by providing information, guidance, and assistance as needed.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, filing, organizing materials, and preparing program resources.
  • Participate in orientation, training sessions, and team meetings to remain informed about organizational initiatives and goals.
  • Support community outreach and health promotion activities, such as education sessions, wellness initiatives, and food programs.
  • Assist with youth, family, and peer support programs in a respectful and inclusive manner.
  • Contribute to community-based initiatives that promote health equity, inclusion, and social justice.
