About The Position

This role involves receiving product from the Press, stacking it, and placing it on pallets. The technician will operate the Hugo Beck Bundling System, including setup, troubleshooting, and basic functions. They will pull product from the press, stack it, feed it through the bundling machine, retrieve bundled product, and place it on pallets. The position requires printing pallet labels using Pecas, understanding job bags and setup sheets, and ensuring correct loading of product and pallets for material handling. Quality assurance is a key aspect, involving reviewing completed jobs for quality and accuracy, identifying and reporting errors to operators, and pulling product samples for quality auditors. The role also includes assisting with press downtime, cleaning the press area, and performing setup and breakdown of doctor blades according to safety procedures. Responsibilities extend to the Make-Ready process, including purging product, assisting with roller changes, and other press-related tasks. The technician must maintain and follow all company policies and procedures for OHSE, personal protection, and hazardous materials handling, including consistent use of PPE and proper uniform maintenance. They will use company-provided safety lifting equipment and maintain a safe and neat work area. If applicable, the role may involve gluer operations such as feeding product, packing, and palletizing. For Forklift Driver responsibilities (if applicable), the role supports press operations through safe material handling, operating forklift vehicles, loading/unloading pallets, and managing waste and recyclables. This includes maintaining bi-annual certification, moving materials, spotting loads, supporting the press with materials, removing waste containers, and ensuring proper battery charging and inspection. The technician must always operate equipment safely, report incidents, and actively participate as a member of the Press Crew, interacting respectfully and cooperatively with team members. They must be dependable in attendance and punctuality and perform all required tasks.

Requirements

High School diploma (or GED), one to three years related production experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have very good mechanical and physical ability.
Lift truck operators must have and maintain safety training for operation of all company equipment.

Responsibilities

Receive product from Press, stack, and place on pallets.
Understand basic operation of Hugo Beck Bundling System, including set-up, troubleshooting, webbing, trash in knife, roll alignment, and tightening or loosening bundles.
Pull product from press, stack and place through bundling machines retrieving bundled product and place on pallets.
Print pallet labels with Pecas, finding all information needed on job bag and set up sheet.
Ensure correct loading of product through bundling machine and correct loading onto pallets for Material handling.
Ensure quality of jobs completed by reviewing for quality and accuracy, making sure jobs are complete and error free.
Inform Operators of any problems.
Ensure finished product appears to be of highest quality, accurately printed and completed and free of errors.
Pull Product samples according to company procedures and send to Quality Auditors as required.
Notify Operator immediately of any problems and/or errors.
Webbing the press.
Assist Operators when the press is down.
Blow out the Hugo Beck.
Clean up press area, including mopping all areas, walls, tables, cans, tanks, and floors behind press and units.
Ensure correct set-up and breakdown of doctor blades using established instructions and procedures.
Properly remove/dispose of used doctor blades using all safety procedures.
Dispose of used blades in safety container for used blades.
Clean backup blade using correct water, solvent, or lacquer.
Deliver blade assembly to proper area in Pre-Make Department.
Set up new doctor blades according to policies and procedures ensuring all measurements are correct and blade is in proper position.
Ensure all product is purged from stacker, tables, and Hugo Beck.
Assist in changing impression rollers or change over stacker.
Assist in putting tools in press, changing tab breaker section, tear down, and put pump together, separate the different sections of the press from tab breaker section to cutter.
Change cylinders, pump out inks, fill solvent containers.
Remove and/or install print unit cassettes.
Maintain and follow all company policies and procedures for OHSE, personal protection, and hazard materials/waste handling according to established guidelines.
Ensure consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment while in designated areas and while performing specific tasks requiring the use of PPE.
Follow established procedures and guidelines for the handling and disposal of all hazardous materials/waste.
Maintain and wear proper uniform according to company policies.
Use Company provided safety lifting equipment, i.e., hoist, jacks, vacuum manipulators, etc.
On a regular basis, examine work areas to keep it in a safe and neat condition, including proper grounding, cleanup ink, and solvent containers.
Properly store and arrange work area to maintain cleanliness and safe environment following all safety rules and regulations for grounding, storage, spill clean-up, etc.
Effectively demonstrate the ability to maintain work area in a safe and proper working order including cleaning press area, mopping floors, emptying rag bins, blade receptacles, and trashcans.
Perform a variety of tasks such as feeding product into the folder/gluer, packing and palletizing (if applicable).
Print pallet labels with Pecas (if applicable).
Maintain and support press operation through safe and effective material handling (if applicable).
Safe and correct operation and maintenance of forklift vehicles to ensure proper material handling and forklift operation (if applicable).
Loading and unloading of pallets, waste and recording and weighing of recyclable material (if applicable).
Maintain bi-annual certification of correct procedures and operation of lift equipment (if applicable).
Use lift truck to move loads of raw materials, in-process stock, or finished goods throughout the facility (if applicable).
Spot check load for correct labels and codes, and neatness. Place loads in designated area of warehouse (if applicable).
Provide support to Press, i.e., check schedule board for upcoming jobs, check to make sure press has sufficient materials (if applicable).
Remove waste containers, and changing over full containers to always maintain empty container at press (if applicable).
Remove waste and cores from press, weigh and put on trucks for recycling (if applicable).
Supply corrugate, pallets and bundler film at delivery end of press (if applicable).
Make sure all material is in designated areas (if applicable).
Remove finished loads of product from delivery end of press (if applicable).
Ensure proper installation of battery charging equipment and battery replacement according to company policies and procedures. Batteries must be charged outside the lift truck (if applicable).
Complete all necessary paperwork as required including a daily lift truck inspection form (if applicable).
Always operate all equipment in a safe manner to ensure no damage to Company property or customer product (if applicable).
Report all accidents, injuries, and near misses (if applicable).
Actively participate as a member of Press Crew to meet production and team goals.
Interact with operators, co-workers and all staff in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation, and contributes to excellent performance.
Work effectively with other employees as an integral member of a Press Crew.
Communicate accurate information to all team members in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner.
Exhibit a willingness to assist or help in getting work completed, for example, relieving for breaks, assist on other machines when required, all other tasks that may be required or requested by operators, shift leads, department leads or management.
Must be very dependable in attendance and punctuality.
Must be able to perform all work or additional tasks as required or requested by Department Leads, Shift Leads, Operators or Management.
