About The Position

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Assist in the preventative maintenance and repair of County facilities in the following fields of work: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, structural systems, and Fire Alarm systems. Procures compatible materials and tools required to perform maintenance, repair, and construction-related functions. Performs complex maintenance and diagnostic services for carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and similar systems maintenance, repair or construction of county facilities or structures. Estimates and procures compatible materials and tools required to perform maintenance, repair and construction-related functions. Installs, maintains and repairs of surveillance systems. Maintains appropriate work records and documents, including work orders and formal and informal inspections. Prepares and processes daily work reports, inspection reports, work orders, requisitions, sketches, etc. Plans the layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings. Inspects facilities to identify maintenance and repair requirements and priorities. Respond to emergency and non-emergency service calls, diagnoses problems and makes minor repairs. Performs related work as required. Adequate attendance is required. Required to work in a detention facility performing facility maintenance.

Requirements

  • Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in performing building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, alarm systems and minor construction maintenance and repairs; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Background check required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
