About The Position

We are seeking a General Surgery Physician Assistant for a locum tenens position in Potsdam, NY. This role involves clinical duties and optional call coverage within a hospital setting. The position is full-time, with a Tuesday-Friday clinical schedule and optional weeknight and weekend beeper call. The coverage period begins July 27, 2026, and is ongoing. The Physician Assistant will manage 10-15 adult patients per provider, including admissions, rounding, and providing surgical first assist support. The case mix includes General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic cases. The facility has 109 beds and utilizes the Epic EMR system. Support staff, including NP and LPN, as well as specialty backup from surgical and anesthesia teams, are available. Pyxis medication system is available in the office.

Requirements

• Active NY license required
• Certified Physician Assistant
• DEA required
• BLS, ACLS, ATLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years recent experience required
• Epic experience required

Nice To Haves

• Robotics experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical first assist support in the operating room
• Assist with patient care including suction, drainage, and irrigation
• Perform rounding, consults, and discharges
• Manage surgical floor patients and documentation
• Collaborate with surgical and care teams
