About The Position

Temple Health is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible General Surgeon to join its surgical program at Jeanes Hospital, part of Temple University Health System. The role involves building and growing a broad-based general surgery practice in a community hospital setting while maintaining connections to the university's resources, teaching mission, and academic environment. This position is part of Temple Health’s initiative to strengthen elective and emergency general surgery care across its community hospitals. The initial focus will be at Jeanes Hospital, with future collaboration with Temple Health – Chestnut Hill Hospital and Women and Families Hospital. The surgeon will participate in acute care/emergency general surgery call and contribute to developing a cross-coverage model.

Requirements

  • Board eligibility or certification in General Surgery
  • Strong clinical and operative skills across the breadth of general surgery
  • Interest in both elective and emergency general surgery
  • Commitment to quality, safety, teamwork, and patient-centered care
  • Enthusiasm for resident and medical student teaching
  • Interest in helping build a growing community-based surgical program

Responsibilities

  • Build and grow a busy elective general surgery practice at Jeanes Hospital
  • Maintain a broad operative practice with a mix of elective and emergency general surgery
  • Participate in acute care and emergency general surgery call at the community hospital level
  • Help develop an integrated community general surgery program across Temple Health
  • Teach and work with Temple surgical residents and Lewis Katz School of Medicine students in a university-affiliated hospital setting
  • Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other specialists throughout Temple Health
  • Benefit from the referral network, clinical resources, and tertiary and quaternary capabilities of Temple University Hospital
