About The Position

The General Superintendent (GS) is responsible for insuring that assigned superintendents are honoring our commitment to completing projects safely, with the highest standard of quality, and with purpose-driven efficiency. In order to effectively realize these goals, the GS will be required to routinely visit active job sites, observe activities and recommend changes as required. Any recommended changes should be communicated to the Director of Field Operations (DFO) and project management teams in a timely manner. The GS, in conjunction with the DFO, will mentor, train, and evaluate assigned Superintendents. Further, the GS will work with the DFO, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Director of Construction (DOC) to provide recommendations relative to current and future equipment and personnel needs as well as other initiatives to improve field execution of Crom projects.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Valid Driver’s License, with a clean driving record and Insurance
  • Pass an extensive background check.
  • Must be team player and able to work well with a diverse group of personnel.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle a multitude of projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Proficient understanding of typical construction materials and methods,
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong budgeting and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate record of successful management in complex situations
  • Excellent customer service with owners and contractors
  • Must be able to evaluate new technologies, learn and implement these into our processes.

Nice To Haves

  • 12-15 years of construction experience in the water/wastewater, infrastructure repair, and/or coatings industry or a combination of Superintendent and field experience of 10-15 years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Actively manage specifically assigned construction projects.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings with assigned Superintendents.
  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of assigned Superintendents.
  • Work with and help assigned Superintendents to identify the strengths and weaknesses of their crew members and how to mentor and coach their crew members.
  • Advise/provide recommendations to the Director of Deployment (DOD) relative to individual crew assignments and crew chemistry to ensure that each Field Crew is “balanced” and sized correctly for upcoming tasks.
  • Work with the DFO, DOC and COO to identify and prepare future field leaders.
  • Work with Project Managers to develop construction schedules.
  • Work with assigned Superintendents to review labor, material and ODC budgets for each project.
  • Actively assist Project Managers with planning and execution recommendations for complex projects.
  • Actively visit complex projects to audit and support assigned Superintendents.
  • Increase safety awareness of assigned superintendents.
  • Increase quality awareness of assigned superintendents.
  • Develop specific coaching and mentoring plans for each assigned field superintendent.
  • Perform quarterly evaluations for each assigned field superintendent.
  • Help identify and resolve issues and conflicts between assigned field superintendents and regional execution teams.
  • Work with assigned superintendents on improvements to planning and scheduling preparation.
  • Increase working technical knowledge of products and services.
  • Work with job servicing and procurement to provide feedback from field operations on areas of improvement.
  • Work with Team Services involving hiring, termination and other disciplinary actions required for assigned field team members.
  • Assist QA/QC Manager with implementation/refinement/enforcement of QA/QC Program.
  • Work with Director of Training to ensure field team member training program is updated with the most recent field construction procedures.
  • Provide construction input and knowledge to project execution teams as needed to ensure company objectives and standards are met.
  • Work with DFO, DOC and COO on the development of strategies for improved efficiency in project execution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
