About The Position

South College is seeking a General Studies Adjunct Instructor of English to provide on-campus instruction for General Studies courses, including English Composition and English Composition w/Research. The instructor will be responsible for updating course syllabi, developing lesson plans and presentation materials, communicating with the faculty lead, and evaluating student progress. South College is a rapidly growing institution committed to providing an equitable and inclusive work environment that values diverse perspectives and experiences.

Requirements

• A minimum of an acceptable master’s degree in English, or An earned master’s or doctoral degree and satisfactory completion of 18 graduate semester hours in English
• Experience teaching English in the higher education setting.
• Proficient in the written and oral communication of the English language
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

• Doctorate preferred
• Experience in ground and online instruction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop instructional materials to facilitate student learning outcomes for the course.
• Collect all assessment data related to student learning outcomes.
• Maintain an equitable system of student evaluation based on sound practices in accordance with the course syllabus.
• Return all graded assignments in a reasonable time frame according to South College Faculty Expectations.
• Project an appropriate professional image.
• Enforce all South College rules and policies.
