About The Position

Join Boone Memorial Hospital as a General Sonographer and play a key role in diagnosing and improving patient health. This is a highly independent, hands-on role where your expertise directly impacts patient care and clinical decisions every day. As a Sonographer, you’ll perform a wide range of ultrasound procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and high-quality imaging.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Diagnostic Sonography program
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent (required)
Active West Virginia Medical Imaging License
CPR Certification
Completion of required annual competencies and training

Nice To Haves

ARRT Certification
1+ year of experience in an acute care or physician office setting
Additional sonography registries (vascular, breast, etc.)

Responsibilities

Perform ultrasound exams including Abdomen, Breast, Small Parts, Gynecology, Musculoskeletal, and Vascular (if RVT available)
Gather and analyze patient history to support accurate imaging and diagnosis
Provide preliminary impressions and communicate findings to physicians
Work closely with radiologists, cardiologists, and surgeons
Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ultrasound equipment
Maintain accurate documentation and timely reporting in the system
Schedule patients and clearly explain procedures
Follow AIUM protocols and maintain high standards of imaging quality
Ensure proper cleaning and high-level disinfection of equipment (including pelvic probes)
Adapt to patient needs and respond appropriately in emergency situations
Assist other departments and support overall imaging operations
Participate in weekend call rotation as scheduled
