About The Position

MercyOne is seeking Ultrasound Professionals across Iowa. Sign-on incentives are now available, starting at $10,000. This position performs quality ultrasound procedures by utilizing proper positioning skills and technical factors, as well as a knowledge of anatomical structures pertinent to the patient population of infants to geriatrics. The role involves performing clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations, educating patients on exams, and obtaining consent when necessary. It also requires practicing proper safety in accordance with established standards, utilizing critical thinking in daily and emergent assessment of proper protocols, and assessing each patient for proper preparation and scanning protocol for each ordered exam. The sonographer will follow established protocols for the Ultrasound Department, observe safety precautions, and operate 2D, M-mode, and Doppler ultrasound units with appropriate transducers to perform and adequately ascertain the location of specific organs, with the demonstration of recorded images which reflect the appropriate calculations for accurate measurements.

Requirements

  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with one of the following: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS).
  • If not registered, be board-eligible and become registered with ARDMS within one year of hire.
  • Maintains active registry status with ARDMS (30 CME’s every 3 yrs/annual payment).
  • Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within six (6) months of hire and every three (3) years thereafter.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire and every two (2) years thereafter.

  • Utilizes critical thinking in daily and emergent assessment of proper protocols.
  • Assesses each patient for proper preparation and scanning protocol for each ordered exam.
  • Follows protocols that have been established for the Ultrasound Department.
  • Observes safety precautions when handling patients, while performing examinations and while patients are in direct contact.
  • Operates 2D, M-mode, and Doppler ultrasound unit with appropriate transducers to perform and adequately ascertain the location of specific organs, with the demonstration of recorded images which reflect the appropriate calculations for accurate measurements.
