General Shop Laborer
About The Position
The General Shop Laborer assists with day-to-day operations that support production processes. Duties include supporting machinists, operating basic machinery and shop tools, maintaining equipment and work areas, loading and unloading parts and materials, and performing deburring, cleaning, and inspection tasks. The role also includes some janitorial work and other general labor duties assigned by department managers. The position is full-time at Snowline Engineering’s facility in Cameron Park, California, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Compensation is $20.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Requirements
- General mechanical skills.
- Basic familiarity with hand tools.
- Familiarity with forklift operation.
- Basic blueprint skills.
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Support machinists and production processes with general shop labor.
- Tend to one or more machine tools to machine metal and non-metal work pieces.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and replace cutting tools as needed to maintain part quality.
- Clean machines and work areas to maintain safe working conditions.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished products.
- Deburr, clean, and inspect parts for conformance using standard measuring tools.
- Empty garbage and recycling cans.
- Tumble and wash machine parts.
- Operate basic shop tools.
- Move materials within the shop using forklifts or pallet jacks, if certified.
- Assist department managers with general labor duties as assigned.
