About The Position

Northrich Automotive, a family-owned repair shop in Richardson, TX, is seeking a dependable General Service Technician with a current Texas emissions-inspector license. This role involves more than just oil changes; responsibilities include performing the structured Rack Attack inspection process, preventive maintenance, light repairs, and ensuring customers receive clear, documented information about their vehicles. Requirements

  • Current Texas vehicle emissions-inspector license
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Previous automotive service experience
  • Ability to perform accurate, complete vehicle inspections
  • Comfortable using tablets and digital inspection software
  • Basic mechanical and under-car repair ability
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
  • Ability to follow established processes and checklists
  • Professional, team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain active throughout the workday

Responsibilities

  • Perform oil changes and scheduled maintenance
  • Complete tire repairs, rotations, balancing, and replacement
  • Inspect brakes and perform light brake service
  • Replace basic steering and suspension components
  • Complete fluid services and preventive maintenance
  • Perform required Texas vehicle emissions inspections
  • Conduct complete digital vehicle inspections
  • Inspect tires, brakes, fluids, belts, hoses, filters, lights, wipers, leaks, steering, and suspension
  • Take clear photographs and enter accurate inspection notes
  • Separate immediate safety concerns from maintenance and future repair needs
  • Promptly communicate findings to the service advisor
  • Ask a senior technician for assistance when additional diagnosis is required
  • Complete assigned work accurately and efficiently
  • Protect customer vehicles and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Work professionally with advisors, technicians, and shop leadership
  • Follow the established inspection checklist without skipping steps
  • Identify visible safety concerns and needed maintenance
  • Document the vehicle’s actual condition honestly
  • Provide complete photographs and notes
  • Report findings to the service advisor in a timely manner
  • Help ensure no obvious maintenance or safety concern is overlooked
