The General Sales Manager primary role is to assist the General Manager with overseeing and driving both people and financial success in variable operations. This is a hands-on, active management role involved in all aspects of the sales process. The GSM works with the general manager, sales team, and finance management team to meet monthly new, used, and F&I objectives, and assists with inventory management for both new and used car departments. The role requires a track record of developing and mentoring sales consultants, F&I managers, and other sales managers, with a proven history of superior results in a high-volume dealership and excellent customer service (CSI). The GSM is expected to lead from the front lines, manage and oversee activities of variable operations, and be a detailed, process-driven leader who can hold staff accountable for results. Responsibilities include ensuring volume commitments to the manufacturer are met, partnering with the General Manager to develop and review goals, maintaining good relationships with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel, communicating management policies, hiring, training, supervising, and monitoring performance of sales associates and managers, and motivating, rewarding, and training employees. Strong asset management skills are required, including ensuring the CIT list is resolved before deadlines. The GSM must lead by example and embody the company's core values.
