About The Position

We are seeking a Board-Certified General Psychiatrist to join our acute behavioral health team on a PRN basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician looking for flexible coverage work in a high-acuity inpatient setting with an experienced multidisciplinary team. The role involves providing PRN psychiatric physician coverage for inpatient behavioral health services, conducting psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and medication management. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team to develop and oversee patient care plans is also a key responsibility. The facility is an acute behavioral health facility with 90 beds and an average daily census of 80 patients, maintaining a high occupancy rate. The provider team consists of 3 additional providers, and PRN call coverage with call pay is required. The EMR system is WellSky, with implementation scheduled for September.

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Psychiatry required.
  • Active medical license and DEA registration.
  • Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) required.
  • Licensed in the state in which the facility(s) operate.
  • Board certification in psychiatry
  • Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in acute inpatient psychiatry preferred.
  • One or more years’ post graduate degree practice preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide PRN psychiatric physician coverage for inpatient behavioral health services.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and medication management.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to develop and oversee patient care plans.
  • Responsible for providing clinical services to patients at the facility.
  • Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures.
  • Review medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.
  • Evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
  • Treat or direct treatment of patients, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
  • Review and complete medical information for individual care plans, documents services and information in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidential documentation, compliance and billing in accordance with the policy and procedures.
