The production operator role contributes to all phases of the production process, including operating automated equipment, diagnosing machinery failures, assisting with preventative maintenance, and sanitation. Operators are expected to make production decisions regarding equipment preflight and operation, be flexible with job assignments, and maintain a safe work environment. Competency in all job activities affecting product safety, legality, and quality is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect affect on product safety, legality and/or quality.

Responsibilities

  • Checks production work schedules for job assignment and work reporting time.
  • When job assignment is SCALER/DIVIDER OPERATOR, responsibilities include checking and maintaining the production schedule, scaling ingredients, loading/operating/unloading mixers, operating the dough pump, checking posted scaling weights and equipment standards, adjusting and operating one pocket and six pocket dividers, adjusting and operating the rounder, adjusting and operating the overhead proofer, performing start-up/shut down sanitation and operator’s preventative maintenance, ensuring the work area is clean and organized, performing other duties as directed by supervision, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • When job assignment is WRAPPING OPERATOR, responsibilities include checking the production schedule and verifying product running order, checking the pan count sheet for product quantity, checking the production wrap count sheet for bag types, setting and operating slicer, bagger, and tier equipment, performing quality control inspection of finished product, ensuring product is loaded correctly, performing start-up/shut down sanitation and operator’s preventative maintenance, ensuring the work area is clean and organized, performing other duties as directed by supervision, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • When job assignment is PALLETIZER, responsibilities include checking the production schedule and verifying product running order, checking to ensure the proper program is running, checking pallets, slip sheets, etc. for quantity, performing start-up/shut down sanitation and operator’s preventative maintenance, ensuring the work area is clean and organized, performing other duties as directed by supervision, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Similar responsibilities apply when assignment is ROLL LINE OPERATOR, BOARD MONITOR, RETARD BOX MONITOR.
