About The Position

The Pipe General Foreman will receive direction from Superintendent and Site Manager regarding upcoming daily tasks and project progress. This role is responsible for overseeing pipe foreman while also managing pipe foreman's and crews in the assembly, layout, installation, and maintenance of piping systems for industrial and new construction projects. Typical duties include reading blueprints and specifications, understanding the craft environment and basic tools, managing crew processes, scheduling, costs, employee relations, and employment needs. The role also involves identifying required tools and safety risks, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of pipe fitting processes, tactically planning operations for efficient resource utilization, ensuring QA/QC requirements are met, and representing the company on bid walks and potential projects.

Requirements

  • Must have 10+ years’ experience with pipefitting processes for industrial construction, maintenance or new construction.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Good understanding of the craft environment being supervised and knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Must be able to pass the Craft Skills Test at or above 70% or have the NCCER certification for your craft.
  • Must have a good understanding of Matrix Service policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to complete Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client / Site specific training.
  • Obtain and maintain active status within the required drug testing program. Subject to random drug screenings.
  • Must pass a Background.
  • Must maintain a current, valid driver's license and pass an MVR as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
  • Good understanding of the craft environment being supervised and knowledge of basic tools
  • Manage crew processes, scheduling, costs, employee relations issues, and employment needs.
  • Identify all tools required for tasks.
  • Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
  • Illustrate in-depth knowledge of all pipe fitting processes.
  • Tactically plan operations for scheduling workloads in crews efficiently utilizing assets and resources to minimize cost.
  • Ensure all QA/QC requirements are met on assigned projects.
  • Attend and represent the company on bid walks and potential projects.
