About The Position

Tenneco Litchfield is a manufacturing facility belonging to the Clean Air division of Tenneco. Our primary focus is producing full exhaust systems and related components for OEM’s (Automotive Plants) and aftermarket parts. Our major customers are General Motors, Ford, Toyota, VW, Nissan, and many aftermarket vehicle replacement parts. We have 3 departments known as Canning, Bending and Final assembly. Canning is the production zone where catalytic converters and different filters are assembled and sealed inside their metal outer shells. Our bending department is responsible for shaping straight metal in complex, curved shapes to fit under the vehicle, and tail pipes. Final assembly at the end of the shop is where, bent pipe, stuffed cans, hangers and flanges are all welded together to make a vehicle ready exhaust system.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions in English.
  • Must have the ability to write simple correspondence in English.
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with supervisors, peers, or subordinates by phone, in writing, and / or in person.
  • Must be able to tell when an operating error is occurring and assist in deciding what to do about it.
  • Must be able to work within a team environment.
  • Must possess the ability to work with hand tools.
  • Must possess the ability to maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Produce parts as directed by material control, and or the engineering department so to attain the required production levels and quality.
  • Prep and inspect parts for final production.
  • Run first time production parts as directed and perform Poka Yokes.
  • Participate in job rotation through each cell which addresses cross training and agronomical issues.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Position work piece against stops or align layout marks with die or blades.
  • Push button or depress pedal to activate machine.
  • Observe machine operations to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Monitor the output of quality parts through inspection, scrap records, statistical process controls, and station control sheets.
  • Measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
  • Perform 5S activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
