About The Position

The General Operator I is responsible for operating production machines and accurately measuring products to meet company targets and standards. This role involves performing various machine operations including Drilling, Milling, Trim, Tapping, Crimping, Vision, Stamping, Marking, Deburr, Manual Punch Press, EDM, Auto Assembly, and hand assembly. The General Operator I must maintain a required level of competency for production machines, as assessed by skill evaluations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 0 – 2 years experience and/or training of manufacturing environment procedures.
  • Basic computer systems knowledge.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Team Members of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract six digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform mathematical operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to comprehend detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to speak or listen.
  • Ability to walk.
  • Ability to use eye-hand coordination, repetitive hand movement and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to bend, reach to shoulder level and lift, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 30 pounds.
  • Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing level within normal/average range.
  • Wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or proper footwear PPE in specified areas.

Responsibilities

  • Operates secondary production machines under supervision and after JSA training.
  • Comprehends and follows SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), work instructions, and/or special requirements.
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Reads blueprints or Manufacturing Orders (MO) for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be formed, and tooling instructions.
  • Inspects product using calipers, micrometer, scales, templates, or other measuring instruments to verify conformance to blueprint or manufacturing instructions.
  • Records information such as in-process inspection, number of products tested, meter readings, and dates and times of work piece production.
  • Recognizes cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications and initiates action to prevent non-conformance, such as stopping the machine and notifying the department Lead person or Supervisor.
  • Operates Shop Floor System and records MO information.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as changing worn accessories, oiling and cleaning machines, and adding coolant to machine reservoirs.
  • Reports all malfunctioning equipment and non-conformance issues to department Lead or immediate Supervisors and follows the course of actions needed.
  • Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.
  • Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • Follows all 5S department procedures, including keeping floors clean, returning tools to proper locations, organizing part pans, and performing other housekeeping duties.
  • Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Brings any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Continually seeks opportunities to improve HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting results.
  • Works within recommended waste elimination initiatives, specifically related to the manufacturing production function, such as recycling opportunities to eliminate or minimize production waste.
  • Performs a variety of other related duties as assigned.

Benefits
