About The Position

Block by Block CA is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee their Ambassador programs in Downtown Long Beach, California. This role requires advanced client relationship management skills to manage daily district program operations and deliver continual program improvements. The ideal candidate will have strong managerial skills, a great work ethic, experience supervising a team of approximately 40 employees, and a passion for creating a great experience. The company focuses on making public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner through their Ambassador programs.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in facilities operations management, hospitality/tourism management, event management, or public spaces administration.
  • Experience supervising a team of approximately 40 employees.
  • High School Diploma Required.
  • Minimum of 5 years Management Experience.
  • CA driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Expert Customer Service Skills -- Must lead by example with their friendliness and with a positive attitude.
  • Expert Judgement -- must be comfortable and competent in order to make decisions based on information available.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather- Train stations are covered, but most have open air to the outdoors. Transit Ambassadors must be capable of working outside in extreme heat (with increased frequency of breaks) or cold, with provided cold weather gear and also with increased frequency of breaks.
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Expert in level technology and computer skills Must have a strong background with proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.

  • CA guard card preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Hiring and training a positive, skilled, and dependable team.
  • Adjusting the deployment of resources to match changing needs.
  • Identifying and solving problems to improve program quality.
  • Procuring and managing inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Reporting outcomes through various channels (spreadsheets, Kronos Timekeeping, Budgets).
  • Hands-on working management in the field to provide coaching, mentoring, and continuous training.
