About The Position

Live Nation Entertainment is seeking a General Manager to lead the local team at Steelhead PDX, a new venue in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to live music and events. Located near the waterfront, Steelhead has a capacity of 3,500 guests and aims to be a community hub. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all business operations, ensuring adherence to Live Nation standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a general manager or operations manager in a hospitality-related business.
  • Proven track record as a leader.
  • Ability to perform all job duties and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Expertise in profitability analysis and budgeting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for both long-term and immediate situations.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a team focused on creating a safe and enjoyable environment for guests, artists, and staff.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local community stakeholders, including neighbors, city officials, and community leaders.
  • Establish and uphold high standards of service for guests, staff, artists, and vendors.
  • Identify and maximize revenue opportunities while optimizing the guest and artist experience by combining company best practices with local creativity.
  • Collaborate with the Portland talent team and national promoters to deliver exceptional experiences for artists and crews, maintaining a distinct local identity.
  • Work with national and local teams to ensure Marketing, Premium Seat Sales, Food and Beverage, and Sponsorship groups develop innovative offerings that enhance fan experiences and drive revenue growth.
  • Oversee the performance and strategies for food and beverage and merchandise sales.
  • Hire, train, and schedule full-time and part-time employees, and manage subcontractors and third-party vendors.
  • Supervise the venue operations team to coordinate event setup and activities.
  • Maximize venue utilization through outreach to local and national organizations.
  • Liaise with Live Nation promoters and operations leaders to provide direction on standards and compliance.
  • Maintain venue sustainability standards and provide records for LEED operating certification.
  • Perform financial settlements and reporting for events.
  • Manage venue and event budgets and P&L projections using company tools.
  • Ensure a thorough understanding and implementation of Health & Safety and Security protocols.
  • Comply with company audit procedures.
  • Monitor and review employee performance and attendance.
  • Meet staffing and budget requirements for events and overhead labor.
  • Oversee all venue employees, including operations, maintenance, production, food and beverage, cleaning, security, and guest services staff.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of all venue vendors and subcontractors (e.g., HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Trash/Recycling).
  • Ensure complete advance planning for each show, including security and production requirements.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty for most events, present from load-in to load-out.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by executive management.
