About The Position

U-Haul is seeking a responsible, motivated, and thoughtful General Manager to manage a moving and storage center. The role is responsible for keeping the center profitable and efficient through effective staffing, inventory tracking, equipment management, and problem-solving. The work is varied, fast-paced, and involves both customer service and day-to-day center operations. The position is located at 2395 Senter Rd, San Jose, California. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship. The role involves moderate workplace risks and may require protective gear. It also requires periods of standing or remaining stationary, moving around the premises, reaching for and using tools, and moving items weighing at least 50 pounds, with or without assistance.

Requirements

1–3 years of management experience in retail or another service industry, with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction.
Computer expertise.
Organizational expertise.
Management proficiency in high-volume retail with profit-and-loss accountability.
Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work weekends and holidays.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Manage the fleet to deliver clean and well-maintained equipment.
Perform profit-and-loss analyses.
Hire and mentor new team members.
Track and itemize inventory.
Manage the personnel budget.
Ensure customers receive the highest quality of care.
Track fuel receipts and petty cash.
Clean and monitor the premises and maintain a secure environment.
Participate in ongoing U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
