About The Position

Shaner Hotels is seeking a dynamic, results-driven General Manager to lead all aspects of hotel operations while delivering exceptional guest experiences, driving financial performance, and developing a high-performing team. The General Manager is responsible for ensuring the hotel operates in accordance with corporate policies and franchise standards while exemplifying Shaner's Core Values of Guest Satisfaction, Associate Satisfaction, Accountability, and Profitability. This highly visible leadership role serves as the face of the hotel within the community and works collaboratively with department leaders to achieve operational excellence, maximize revenue, and exceed guest expectations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive hospitality leadership experience, including hotel operations management.
  • Clean driving history / driving record.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive financial performance, and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong knowledge of hotel budgeting, forecasting, payroll, purchasing, and cost controls.
  • Working knowledge of all hotel departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage (where applicable), Engineering, and Sales.
  • Experience with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to analyze business performance and make sound operational decisions.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and implement operating procedures, safety guidelines, and company policies.
  • Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and operational documentation.
  • Comfortable presenting information to employees, ownership groups, guests, and community organizations.
  • Knowledge of local attractions, events, and market conditions to enhance the guest experience and support hotel success.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for all hotel operations.
  • Achieve and exceed hotel financial goals, revenue targets, and budget expectations.
  • Develop and execute both short- and long-range financial and operational objectives aligned with company goals.
  • Ensure payroll, purchasing, and expense controls are effectively managed to maximize profitability.
  • Maintain compliance with all Shaner Hotels policies, franchise brand standards, and operational procedures.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop department managers and associates to foster a positive, high-performing workplace.
  • Recruit, hire, train, motivate, evaluate, and retain top talent throughout the hotel.
  • Promote a culture focused on exceptional guest service and operational excellence.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the property and remain accessible to guests and associates.
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of hotel services, room types, rates, occupancy, and daily operations.
  • Assist associates with operational responsibilities to ensure seamless guest service.
  • Establish, communicate, and enforce standards for cleanliness, safety, and service across all departments.
  • Lead the hotel's sales and marketing efforts in partnership with the Sales team to maximize occupancy and revenue.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure outstanding performance on Shaner Hotels, franchise, quality assurance, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction inspections.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the local community, business organizations, and tourism partners.
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
