About The Position

GENERAL MANAGER – MAX’S TAVERN & MAX’S SWING LOUNGE, SPRINGFIELD, MA Join the Max Hospitality Team! Max’s Tavern and Max’s Swing Lounge, located inside the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA, are seeking an experienced and driven full-time General Manager with open availability to join our leadership team. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and eager to contribute to the success of our growing restaurant group. Max’s Tavern offers elevated American fare in a relaxed, upscale-casual setting, while Max’s Swing Lounge provides an innovative indoor golf experience featuring cutting-edge simulators, inventive cocktails, and lounge-style small plates. The two venues share a kitchen and service team, delivering seamless and elevated dining experiences. The ideal candidate is composed, personable, and able to manage the high-energy environment while ensuring a top-notch guest experience. This is a full-time, salaried role with a 50-hour work week, scheduled as five days on and two days off.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of management experience in a high-volume restaurant environment is REQUIRED; experience as a GM preferred
  • Experience with upscale-casual dining or bar/lounge environments is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Toast POS, & Shifts and OpenTable preferred
  • Strong background in guest service, staff development, and operational excellence
  • Creative, team-oriented, and passionate about hospitality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High energy, organized, and detail-driven
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Professional demeanor with a hands-on leadership style

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of craft cocktails, beer, and upscale American fare is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth daily operations and uphold company standards
  • Maintain food and beverage safety protocols and quality standards
  • Interact with guests in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner
  • Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly with grace and professionalism
  • Manage daily cash handling, deposits, and opening/closing procedures
  • Lead weekly manager meetings and daily pre-meal meetings
  • Oversee third-party delivery systems and ensure accurate to-go orders
  • Collaborate with the Managing Partner on staffing, scheduling, and performance management
  • Interview, hire, train, coach, and discipline staff as needed
  • Track sales, monitor costs, and contribute to driving overall business success
  • Build strong team morale and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Develop knowledge of the menu, allergens, repeat guests, and VIPs
  • Assist with payroll weekly, correcting punches; maintain daily tip sheet
  • Knowledge of Toast, Crunchtime, 7Shifts and Paycom are a plus
  • Host pre-meal meetings, present at weekly manager meetings; act as liaison between non-management staff and Partner
  • Support HR Department on compliance, personnel files, I9 completion and FRI forms
  • Be part of cost calls discussing P&L, forecasting and round table items
  • Become ServSafe and TIPS certified within 90 days of hire
