About The Position

The General Manager (GM) is directly responsible for the financial & operational success of an Inalfa assembly & production location or multiple locations. Reporting to the regional Managing Director, the GM shall implement the infrastructure and systems needed to support strategic objectives. S/he is responsible for the production of quality product and the profit / loss of the facility(s), as well as, to manage the operations functions directly involved in the production and shipping of quality modules including production staff, plant quality, plant engineering, health & safety and logistics & materials. Support functions in the facility(s) such as Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology may or may not report directly into the General Manager. The General Manager will be involved in a range of strategic planning and internal initiatives. The GM sets and executes objectives and initiatives that are in line with IRSG & regional business strategies, global Operation’s strategy and customer expectations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Engineering, Purchasing or Finance is required.
  • The position requires no less than 10 years of experience managing an assembly facility in an automotive business serving both domestic and international automotive OEM customers at a Sr. leadership level.
  • Full P&L experience for a facility between $250M and $400M is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
  • The position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • The ability to effectively respond to inquiries and complaints from customers, employees, regulatory agencies, executives or members of the business community.
  • Must have the ability to write presentations and internal communications that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Have the ability to effectively present and communicate information to all levels of the business & external audiences.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to use mathematical concepts and possesses a strong understanding of accounting & finance mathematics to analyze, interpret and build budgets.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with concept, abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be able to make decisions with impartial information in line with business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree with an emphasis in business management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for effective and efficient operations in order to deliver quality product at required quantity to meet customer requirements and expectations
  • Manage staff to expected performance and adherence to internal and customer required systems and processes
  • Create and execute annual FTE and operations budgets which include overhead cost control and improvements to reduce spend and maximize operational profit
  • Responsible to improve operational performance and cost control focused on, but not limited to, the following areas: Plant IMF/ SGA/ direct labor costs & variance, Freight cost, Scrap rate & cost, Rework cost, Inventory accuracy & adjustment
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction and product quality on all programs
  • Achieve and maintain customer quality certifications by meeting or exceeding customer quality score card requirements
  • Use metrics, lessons learned and benchmarking to drive continuous improvement of practice, process and systems in the facility in line with IOS and quality processes
  • Properly escalate issues to the appropriate level in the business and secure the necessary resources to implement short and long term corrective actions
  • Work with advanced program teams to manage program launches to meet or exceed internal and customer expectations
  • Responsible for the health & safety practices and the well-being of all employees
  • Work with Human Resources to enforce company policies & regulations within the facility
  • Is a leader and sets the example and expectation for collaboration, accountability and the culture within the facility
  • Ensures compliance with all Inalfa Operating System requirements.
  • Works to all IATF 16949 procedures as related to the Manufacturing Operations department function.
