About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a retail dispensary. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment and knows how to build strong teams, deliver excellent customer experience, and drive operational results.

Requirements

  • At least two years of retail management experience
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Ability to manage budgets, understand financial performance, and use data to improve operations.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, web-based tools, and applicable work-related software.
  • Strong math skills, punctuality, professionalism, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, as required for dispensary employment under Ohio cannabis regulations.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks, including Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprint-based checks, and obtain any required state approval or credentialing before employment begins.
  • Must be able to work a variable schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Cannabis industry experience is preferred.
  • Sales, merchandising, or buying platform experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Ohio cannabis laws, regulations, and compliance expectations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily dispensary operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, compliance, and an exceptional customer experience.
  • Lead, coach, motivate, and develop team members to support strong performance and professional growth.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, schedule, and train employees in alignment with company standards and applicable requirements.
  • Design and execute strategies that support sales growth, operational excellence, and company expansion goals.
  • Manage budgets, monitor expenses, evaluate financial performance, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish, communicate, and reinforce policies, procedures, and operational best practices.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as needed, ensuring the team delivers high-quality service and follows daily operating standards.
  • Prepare regular reports for leadership and provide recommendations based on operational trends and performance data.
  • Identify buying trends, learn applicable buying platforms, and support inventory-related business opportunities.
  • Address operational challenges professionally, including customer concerns, team conflicts, profit declines, or competitive pressures.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, compliant, and professional work environment.
  • Role model designated representative responsibilities and communicate appropriately with the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control when applicable.
