Wayzata Nissan General Manager

Walser Automotive GroupWayzata, MN
$250,000 - $350,000Onsite

About The Position

We're looking for the leader who can take Walser Wayzata Nissan to the next level. This is an opportunity for an accomplished automotive leader to take ownership of a dealership with real potential and make a measurable impact on its performance, people, and future. We're not looking for someone who is comfortable managing the day-to-day. We're looking for someone who sees the numbers before they're on the financial statement, recognizes talent before it's obvious, understands where the business is leaving opportunity on the table, and has the leadership presence to do something about it. As General Manager, you'll lead the entire dealership operation—sales, service, parts, financial performance, customer experience, and most importantly, the people responsible for delivering all of it. The expectation is simple: lead well, build a great team, drive performance, and leave the dealership better than you found it.

Requirements

  • A proven record of success leading an automotive dealership or a significant dealership operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve dealership performance and deliver results—not simply maintain them.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to connect operational decisions to the bottom line.
  • A history of building high-performing teams and developing leaders who can perform without constant oversight.
  • The confidence to make difficult decisions and the judgment to know when they need to be made.
  • A competitive mindset and a genuine desire to win—balanced with the humility to listen, learn, and adapt.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • The ability to remain composed and decisive when the business gets complicated.
  • A customer-first mindset and a commitment to doing business the right way.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Own the overall performance of the dealership, with accountability for profitability, customer satisfaction, market share, and employee engagement.
  • Set the direction for the dealership and translate business goals into clear, measurable priorities for every department.
  • Drive performance across Sales, Service, and Parts by understanding the numbers, identifying opportunities, and taking action.
  • Build and execute annual operating plans, budgets, forecasts, and strategies that position the dealership for sustained growth.
  • Review financial performance regularly and use the data to make informed, timely business decisions.
  • Establish a culture of accountability where expectations are clear, performance is measured, and leaders own their results.
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and retain exceptional people while building a strong bench of future leaders.
  • Identify underperformance quickly and address it directly through coaching, feedback, and decisive action.
  • Create a customer-first operation and personally take ownership of issues when they require executive-level leadership.
  • Develop strategies around merchandising, marketing, inventory, and market conditions to create competitive advantage.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and continuously look for opportunities to grow volume, profitability, and market share.
  • Build strong relationships with manufacturer representatives, financial institutions, and other key business partners.
  • Champion company initiatives while ensuring dealership processes, compliance, safety, and operational standards are consistently executed.
  • Set the tone for the dealership by leading from the front and demonstrating the standards you expect from your team.

Benefits

  • $250,000–$350,000+ On Target Earnings
  • A Seat at the Table: Directly influence the strategy, performance, culture, and future of the dealership.
  • The Opportunity to Make Your Mark: This isn't about maintaining someone else's playbook. We want your leadership, your ideas, and your ability to identify and capture opportunity.
  • Build Something Great: Develop a team, strengthen the operation, and create a dealership people want to work for and customers want to do business with.
