About The Position
Big C Lumber is a family-owned company with over 100 years of history, seeking a motivated, customer-focused General Manager for one of its retail locations. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, employee development, sales and profitability growth, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience while prioritizing safety. The ideal candidate is a proven leader who enjoys developing people, building customer relationships, and making a positive impact.
Requirements
- Five or more years of management experience, preferably in the building materials or lumber industry.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Customer-focused with outstanding problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of building materials and construction products.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to read blueprints and understand material takeoffs is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead all daily store operations with safety as the top priority.
- Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
- Recruit, hire, and retain quality employees.
- Drive sales growth and achieve profitability goals.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve customer concerns.
- Oversee merchandising, inventory management, and marketing initiatives.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed.
- Coordinate with other Big C Lumber locations to meet customer needs.
- Protect company assets and maintain a safe, secure workplace.
- Foster strong relationships with employees, customers, vendors, and corporate leadership.
- Promote the positive image and values of Big C Lumber.
