About The Position

Via is transforming transportation globally and is looking for a General Manager to lead a transit service rebuild in Tulare, CA. This is a strategic role requiring the ability to envision the future of the service, manage day-to-day operations with discipline, and guide a team through significant change. The General Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of Via's transit operation in Tulare, including service quality, partner relations, financial results, team culture, and long-term growth. This role requires daily on-site presence in Tulare, CA.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience leading complex operations
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own a clear vision for the transit service, partnering with Via’s central functions and leading the team through its implementation.
  • Build new operating systems, staffing models, and service cadences, establishing the necessary culture and accountability structures.
  • Communicate a compelling change narrative to the team, partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Own the end-to-end operating strategy, focusing on on-time performance, rider experience, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Define and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), translating performance data into operational decisions.
  • Design and refine staffing models and scheduling strategies for reliable 24/7 service.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, and company policies and regulations.
  • Build, coach, and manage a frontline operations team, including hiring, performance management, and culture setting.
  • Lead by example by being present in the field and visible to drivers.
  • Develop frontline leaders capable of taking on expanded roles as the service scales.
  • Earn and maintain partner trust through consistent communication, reliable execution, and transparency.
  • Represent Via to community stakeholders, local officials, and riders.
