About The Position

Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this General Manager position. This position is a direct hire opportunity which is expected to be on-site in Greensboro, NC. The General Manager (GM) is responsible for leading all aspects of our client's local business operations within their assigned market or operating company. Reporting to the Regional General Manager (RGM), the GM is accountable for the financial performance, operational execution, employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and growth of the business. The GM leads the local team based in Greensboro, NC. This includes service, sales, operations, and administrative personnel, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service, growing parts and service revenue, supporting new boiler sales opportunities, and driving operational excellence. The GM plays a critical role in maintaining and expanding customer relationships, developing employees, and executing our client's growth strategy at the local level. The ideal candidate combines strong operational leadership with commercial acumen and possesses the ability to drive accountability, performance, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, customer-focused service environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a technical service, industrial services, HVAC, mechanical contracting, boiler, power generation, equipment rental, or related environment.
  • Experience managing a service-based operation with responsibility for customer service, field operations, and financial performance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams across multiple functions.
  • Experience managing budgets and interpreting financial and operational performance metrics.
  • Proven ability to build customer relationships and drive profitable business growth.
  • Experience implementing operational improvements and driving accountability through KPI management.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • University degree in business, engineering, technical studies, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Achieve local financial and operational objectives through effective leadership of the business and its employees.
  • Lead with a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing, customer-focused culture that prioritizes safety, accountability, employee engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, coach, and retain employees across service, sales, operations, and administrative functions.
  • Conduct regular performance discussions, establish employee goals and development plans, and complete formal performance reviews.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels to support customer requirements and growth objectives.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including service delivery, dispatch, quotations, customer support, inventory management, and administrative functions.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics such as safety, quality, response times, quotation backlog, technician utilization, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Ensure effective scheduling and deployment of service resources to maximize customer responsiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with the Director of Technical Services and other leaders to support technician training and technical development.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, service quality, customer experience, and profitability.
  • Drive growth of Parts & Service, Rentals, and support New Equipment Sales activities within the market.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through regular engagement with key accounts and prospective customers.
  • Work closely with local sales personnel to identify opportunities, advance sales activities, and expand our client's market presence.
  • Support the development of quotations and proposals for service agreements, repairs, rentals, and equipment opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed annual revenue, gross margin, and customer retention targets.
  • Manage the local operating budget and contribute to annual planning processes.
  • Monitor financial performance, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and working capital metrics.
  • Participate in our client's monthly operating review process and provide analysis of performance variances and corrective action plans.
  • Ensure achievement of annual financial and operational goals established for the business.
  • Execute local growth initiatives aligned with our client's strategic objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for market expansion, operational improvement, and customer growth within the territory.
  • Support the RGM with local market intelligence and business development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
