Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree business, recreation management, sports management, healthcare administration, or related field (Required)
  • 5 - 7 years Progressive leadership experience in community center, fitness/recreation, aquatics, facility operations, hospitality, or related multi-amenity environment; experience managing budgets, membership operations, rentals/events, staff, vendors, safety procedures, and cross-functional operations (Required)
  • 5 - 7 years (Required)
  • Financial management, budget oversight, revenue management, membership operations, facility and property management, vendor coordination, rental/event oversight, and operational reporting
  • Program development across fitness, aquatics, gymnasium, roller rink, youth/family, older adult, wellness, and community offerings; strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, stakeholder engagement, strategic thinking, and execution capabilities
  • Other CPR, First Aid, AED, and emergency response training. Required for safe community center operations, emergency readiness, staff leadership, incident response, and member/user safety. Pool operator certification or ability to coordinate with designated pool operator preferred based on final operating model. Finance and Budgeting, Staffing, Quality and Outcomes, Assuring a Safe, Environment of Care, Physician Referral, Marketing, Strategic Planning, General Operations within 1 Year Required

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the facility, ensuring a clean, safe, welcoming, fully staffed, and high-performing environment. Oversee facility opening and closing, customer service, issue resolution, scheduling, rentals, special events, custodial standards, and overall operational readiness.
  • Manage financial performance and required planning/reporting, including the Annual Operating Plan, annual budget, monthly operating reports, revenue and expense monitoring, program and membership growth initiatives, rental and special-purpose revenue, approved reimbursement processes, variance identification, corrective actions, and budget reconciliation or escalation requirements when performance materially departs from plan.
  • Lead programming, membership, and user experience strategy. Ensure services and offerings continue to evolve based on customer demand, accessibility goals, utilization data, organizational priorities, and stakeholder feedback while promoting engagement, retention, and satisfaction.
  • Serve as the primary on-site relationship leader for internal and external stakeholders, including organizational leadership, members, community partners, sponsors, vendors, businesses, schools, and local organizations. Coordinate communication, respond to feedback, support outreach efforts, represent the facility in public forums, and ensure operational decisions align with organizational objectives and community needs.
  • Lead personnel management, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, payroll and timekeeping coordination, performance management, retention, certification tracking, emergency preparedness training, and the development of a culture grounded in accountability, service excellence, safety, inclusion, and organizational values.
  • Oversee compliance and risk management responsibilities, including facility maintenance coordination, preventative maintenance programs, building systems issue escalation, equipment upkeep, life-safety procedures, emergency response coordination, accident and incident reporting, customer satisfaction initiatives, contract administration, sponsorship oversight where authorized, and maintenance of records required for audits, regulatory compliance, and operational reporting.
