About The Position

The General Manager (GM) is the clear link between the Bloomingdale’s brand vision and how it comes to life in the store. The GM is a local business owner with a shopkeeper mindset responsible for making things happen, effectively driving business priorities to achieve financial results in the respective Store. The GM recognizes the changing market dynamics and will lead by example, dreams big, is intellectually curious and skilled at influencing others. The GM is a floor-present leader who is responsible for leading and developing the Stores’ teams. The GM sets the standard for an outstanding customer experience with a customer first, always mindset and drives the engagement of our colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university.
  • 5+ years direct experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Drives business at the local level with the mindset of an entrepreneur and creative thinker.
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen and a point of view about how they will grow their business, using data and intuition fluently.
  • Works collaboratively with partners to drive their store forward, expecting elevated standards in service and visual presentation.
  • Focuses on the Customer, championing the omnichannel business model and understanding customer needs.
  • Encourages and actively participates in customer discovery that yields conversion and relationships.
  • Delivers on strategies for elevated and differentiated services and experiences to strengthen customer relationships.
  • Exhibits strong influencing and relationship building skills, both internally and externally with vendors and the community.
  • Proactively partners cross-functionally through influence and builds relationships across central functions to drive their store’s business.
  • Acts as a brand ambassador in the store’s market to represent Bloomingdale’s, gaining new customers and goodwill.
  • Exhibits a strong appreciation for merchandising/product, articulating market needs and partnering with merchants to strategize.
  • Sells what is available and advocates for what is needed.
  • Serves as the chief talent manager and owner of talent in their store.
  • Guides and provides structure to teams, motivating them and setting clear expectations with accountability.
  • Acts as a strong coach, developing talent and grooming future store leaders.
  • Demonstrates strong command skills and inspirational floor-present leadership.
  • Communicates with clarity to engage customers and colleagues.
  • Influences customers and inspires colleagues.
