About The Position

Air Fayre is an award-winning catering team that is in search of the best and the brightest to join our dynamic team of airline catering enthusiasts. The General Manager, Operations is responsible for leading a complex, fast‑moving airline catering operation in a 24/7 environment. This role exists to ensure Air Fayre consistently delivers safe, high‑quality products and on‑time service to our airline partners by running disciplined, efficient operations across food assembly, equipment assembly, dishroom/sanitation, and warehouse/logistics. The General Manager sets the operational standard for the site, balancing hospitality and service expectations with the realities of manufacturing, logistics, and labor‑intensive production. This leader develops strong front‑line managers, drives accountability, and builds systems that allow the operation to perform reliably every day, across all shifts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Operations, Business, Supply Chain, Hospitality, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered
  • 8–12+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in airline catering, food production, manufacturing, logistics, or similar environments
  • Minimum 5 years leading large, multi‑department teams in a 24/7 or high‑volume operation
  • Proven leadership experience in airline catering, food production, manufacturing, logistics, or other high‑volume, operationally complex environments
  • Strong understanding of production, assembly, sanitation/dishroom, and warehouse/logistics operations
  • Experience managing labor‑intensive operations, including staffing plans, scheduling, and labor cost control
  • Strong KPI and performance management capability, with experience driving results through data and accountability
  • Working knowledge of SOPs, standardized work, and operational discipline
  • Experience with process improvement tools such as lean principles, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
  • Solid understanding of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance in a food production environment
  • Ability to balance service urgency with cost control, waste reduction, and financial discipline
  • Comfortable working cross‑functionally and communicating with internal teams and external customers
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced, always‑on environment where priorities shift and execution matters

Responsibilities

  • Lead day‑to‑day operations across all departments, including food assembly, equipment assembly, dishroom/sanitation, and warehouse/logistics
  • Own service execution to ensure airline orders are fulfilled accurately, safely, and on time for every shift
  • Plan and manage labor in a labor‑intensive, multi‑shift, 24/7 operation, including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Control labor costs, overtime, agency usage, and departmental spending while maintaining service and quality expectations
  • Ensure continuous compliance with food safety, sanitation, regulatory, and audit requirements
  • Monitor operational KPIs related to labor productivity, service reliability, shortages, waste, safety, and quality
  • Act quickly to resolve service risks, shortages, and operational disruptions; lead root‑cause analysis and corrective action
  • Maintain strong floor presence and conduct routine audits to ensure SOPs, standards, and processes are followed
  • Improve workflow, reduce waste, and increase productivity through process discipline and continuous improvement
  • Ensure inventory, materials, equipment, and resources are aligned with daily operational needs
  • Develop supervisors and managers through coaching, accountability, and performance management
  • Build leadership bench strength and succession readiness within the operation
  • Work cross‑functionally with HR, Food Safety, Purchasing, Transportation, Maintenance, and other support teams
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with senior leadership and customers on operational performance, risks, and recovery
