The General Manager in Training (GMIT) is a 6–12 month development role for experienced hospitality leaders preparing to run a Wedgewood Weddings venue as a General Manager. The position trains side by side with a top-performing General Manager, learning the company’s operating model through hands-on work across venue operations, sales, team leadership, financial performance, event execution, and workplace culture. After training, GMITs are positioned for General Manager opportunities. Placement depends on the candidate’s location preferences and available openings; roles may be in Southern California, elsewhere in the region, or in another state. Relocation flexibility can expand opportunities and may help candidates reach a GM role faster. General Managers own their venue’s P&L, build and lead teams, set the tone for their property, and are evaluated on results. Centralized HR, marketing, and accounting teams provide back-office support. General Managers are also eligible for the Employee Ownership Program, with payouts tied to company financial performance, tenure, and other performance factors. The role is based on-site at a Wedgewood Weddings venue. Weddings take place on weekends, and General Managers work most weekends, though the posting says they will not work every holiday or close a bar after midnight. Listed first-year total earning potential is $90,000–$98,430, including base pay, quarterly bonuses, and a training completion bonus.
