Responsibilities

  • Lead Transportation Operations: Direct daily transportation operations to ensure service, safety, and productivity goals are achieved. Develop and execute strategic plans that improve transportation efficiency and optimize operational performance. Monitor key performance indicators and adjust operational priorities to meet business objectives. Balance inbound and outbound freight demands while maintaining service expectations.
  • Drive Business Results: Manage facility budgets, expenses, and asset utilization to support financial performance goals. Analyze business reports, operational data, and metrics to identify opportunities and implement improvements. Evaluate existing programs, processes, and initiatives to improve efficiency, service, and cost effectiveness. Lead multiple business initiatives and projects while ensuring successful execution and results.
  • Emergency and Network Response Management: Partner with the Transportation Command Center, distribution centers, and transportation offices to maintain freight flow during emergencies or disruptions. Identify alternative transportation resources and routing solutions to support business continuity. Coordinate response efforts to ensure critical freight reaches impacted areas safely and efficiently.
  • Develop and Lead Teams: Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and develop transportation associates and leaders. Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning. Set performance expectations, provide coaching and feedback, and recognize individual and team accomplishments. Create development opportunities that support career growth and succession planning.
  • Build Relationships and Resolve Issues: Address escalated associate, driver, customer, and supplier concerns by identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Collaborate across functions to remove operational barriers and enhance performance. Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support transportation objectives.
  • Ensure Compliance and Safety: Promote compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Lead a culture focused on safety, ethics, integrity, and operational excellence. Ensure associates receive the training and resources necessary to perform their work safely and effectively. Support Walmart's Open Door process and maintain a respectful, inclusive workplace.
