Statewide, we service the needs of a variety of customers including residential and commercial builders, specialty contractors, government and other institutions, and especially do-it-yourselfers. Today, Spenard Builders Supply is owned by Builders FirstSource, the largest supplier of building products, prefabricated components, and value-added services to the residential construction market in the U.S. We provide customers an integrated homebuilding solution, offering manufacturing, supply, delivery and installation for a full range of structural and related building products. This role manages all aspects of the location to achieve maximum sales and profits with available resources. It is responsible for the overall sales (professional and retail), operations, production, delivery, purchasing, and inventory control of the location. The General Manager oversees the daily operations of the location, skilled in relevant functions and reports from the Online system. They oversee the development and implementation of inventory control programs to meet location inventory levels and turns. The role is involved in the recruiting, hiring, and training process, helps to create and enforce staffing measures that reduce employee turnover and help to increase company profits. The General Manager motivates employees, maintains a productive workforce, and trains successor management. They review and approve wage and salary increases and establish objectives and performance measures. Recommendations for capital improvements are made in view of forecasted demand for various products, efficiency of current equipment, etc. A cost-effective vehicle and equipment maintenance program is instituted. Obsolete equipment/facilities are reported and recommendations regarding replacements or improvements are submitted. Company safety initiatives are supported and reinforced to ensure compliance with all OSHA and DOT requirements. Company policies and procedures, as well as Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, are communicated and enforced as they pertain to the daily functions of all departments. The role acts as a liaison between employees and management to foster a healthy work environment and obtains feedback on customer satisfaction. Budget accountability and reporting as it pertains to the financial goals of the company is a key responsibility. The General Manager works to establish standard cost, operating budgets, and acceptable inventory levels. Expenses are monitored and new methods to improve each location's financial performance are created.
