About The Position

PCSI is seeking a General Maintenance Worker (GMW) to join our team at Fort Knox, Kentucky. This role involves performing minor adjustments and repairs to various building systems and components, including plumbing, electrical, waste systems, architectural and structural elements, doors, windows, floor systems, light carpentry, and roof systems. The position reports to the Cadet Command Supervisor and is based at our Fort Knox Kentucky TFM contract. While typical work hours are Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, support for annual events may require special work schedules, including split-shifts, second-shift assignments, overtime, and weekend work. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least six (6) months of experience with the ability to perform the assigned duties.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb ladders.
  • Frequently required to kneel, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Required to be able to lift 50lbs up to 10 times per day.
  • Ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools required for installation, maintenance and repair.
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete all applicable training modules assigned.
  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather as needed and be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
  • If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).

  • Knowledge of all maintenance trades in a maintenance environment (prior government contractor experience preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs to plumbing, electrical, waste systems, architectural and structural building components, doors, windows, floor systems, light carpentry, and roof systems.
  • Clean and maintain mechanical rooms.
  • Perform preventative maintenance functions and minor repairs, including changing filters, cleaning cooling towers, heating and cooling coils, and changing fluorescent and other light bulbs.
  • Manufacture, repair, and install screens and glass.
  • Perform sign maintenance, including inspections, replacement, and painting.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed.
  • Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Paint structures and equipment.
  • Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hang doors and install door locks.
  • Replace broken windowpanes.
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Assess and make minor repairs to various roofing types, including diagnostics of leaking points and tarping.
  • Repair and/or replacement of ceiling tiles and grid systems.
  • Remove existing damaged drywall ceiling and install new drywall, including taping and finishing.
  • Remove damaged or existing wood panels and replace with appropriate wood species.
  • Patch holes, cracks, and dents in walls using plaster or compound.
  • Repair and install wall tiles.
  • Paint walls, doors, window casings, ceilings, concrete floors and walls, brick, cinder block, steps and landings, and equipment.
  • Install new and replacement or fabricate screens, replace glass, sashes, mullions, seals/gaskets, weatherstripping, trim, locking hardware, hinges/pivots, balances, stops, jambs, sills, operators, handles, and frames.
  • Install and adjust new and existing hinges, closers, seals, weatherstripping, latches, and stops on doors.
  • Remove and install new doors and door frames.
  • Install and adjust thresholds and recessed matts.
  • Repair and replace sliding style man doors.
  • Replace damaged sheet carpeting, carpet squares, ceramic tile, clay tiles, quarry tiles, slate tiles, VCT and LVT tile.
  • Layout and install new carpet squares, ceramic tiles, clay tiles, quarry tiles, slate tiles, VCT and LVT tiles.
  • Remove and install wood, vinyl, and carpet base.
  • Paint epoxy coatings and other flooring paint coverings.
  • Grind existing coatings to remove glues, mortars, adhesives, thin sets, etc.
  • Repair and install stair treads and anti-slip devices.
  • Remove and demo existing walls, including wood and metal stud framing.
  • Frame with metal and wood studs, including top and bottom plates and hat channel installation.
  • Install insulation in walls.
  • Perform minor repairs to concrete, block, and precast, including drilling and filling holes, replacement of block and brick, tuck pointing, and caulking of expansion joints and sealant.
  • Install new drywall, including finish work, taping, and finishing of joints.
  • Perform basic knowledge of wood slices, coverings, mounting, including cabinets, countertops, vanities, backsplashes, caulking, TV mounts, screen mounts, cork boards, dry erase boards, moving of furniture & equipment, wall mounted handrails, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
