This position is locate on site in Annapolis Junction, MD. Under direction of the Facility Supervisor, the General Maintenance Worker will provide the daily maintenance operations and activities for all assigned facilities. The incumbent receives and evaluates work orders and requests, investigates requests or problems where appropriate and completes the necessary repairs. Pay Rate: $31.16/ hour

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • At least two (2) years of experience performing maintenance in a Facilities environment.
  • Must have general working knowledge of mechanical, (electric doors, gates and closures), electrical, plumbing, carpentry (framing, decking and railings).
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions is required.
  • Good working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to pass a pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
  • Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade certifications in mechanical, electrical, plumbing and/or carpentry.
  • Competency in Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, repair, and install equipment, components, and systems that support the facility and infrastructure.
  • Work involves planning and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal and written instructions.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Plan, organize work, and meet all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.
  • Coordinate with other trade personnel and the warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.
  • Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Help perform periodic stock inventories and prepare material requisitions for replacement items as required.
  • May occasionally be required to operate Government or Chugach owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
  • Perform various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
  • Support and assist other department staff and trade groups as needed or directed.
  • Adhere to the established Chugach safety, personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
