About The Position

Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, requiring practical skill and knowledge in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. The role involves maintaining hospital facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems, conducting routine inspections, responding to maintenance requests, and assisting with installations. It also includes maintaining hospital grounds, handling hazardous materials, and collaborating with staff while ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.

Requirements

GED or High School Graduate.
Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment.
Able to understand verbal or written direction from lead, supervisor or other craftsmen.

Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance and repair of hospital facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
Conduct routine inspections of equipment and systems to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations.
Maintain hospital grounds, including minor landscaping, exterior upkeep, and snow removal.
Assist in installation, relocation, and assembly of equipment and furniture.
Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, infection control standards, and government contract requirements.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in accordance with contract and hospital policies.
Support preventive maintenance programs for critical systems (e.g., generators, life safety systems).
Handle hazardous materials and waste according to regulatory guidelines.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to minimize disruption to patient care.
