About The Position

AFO is looking for a General Maintenance Worker to work at the Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI), Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This role supports the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades. The position involves performing general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring basic skills and knowledge in various trades.

Requirements

Valid state driver’s license.
Three years’ work experience in O&M services.
Verbal and basic written communication skills.
Basic working knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and painting.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Supports the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades.
Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and building requiring basic skills and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical assistance.
Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.
Performs a variety of duties: as replacing cover plates, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings; painting structures and equipment and furniture moves.
Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
Assists other crafts and trades personnel in their daily operations.
Mowing, Trimming, and Weed Control.
Performs other tasks as necessary.
Performs general maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
On-Call 24-7 response with the ability to respond to base emergency within 1- hour.
