About The Position

At the Charleston Air Force Base, we are seeking a General Maintenance Worker to perform general maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of facilities and equipment. This role involves conducting routine inspections, responding to maintenance requests, and troubleshooting/repairing various systems. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of facilities maintenance, proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, and experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of facilities maintenance principles and practices
• Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
• Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment using logical problem-solving techniques
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of facilities and equipment
• Conduct routine inspections and identify any maintenance or repair needs
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner and prioritize tasks accordingly
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
• Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track work orders and document completed tasks
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns from staff and tenants
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed and materials used
• Supervise and coordinate external contractors for specialized repairs or projects
• Interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide maintenance activities
