About The Position

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is seeking a General Maintenance Worker to join their Grounds Maintenance crew at the Fort Rucker AGRC in Fort Rucker, AL. This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Crew Chief and is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the GRC, its facilities, and equipment. The role involves assisting with target fabrication and repair, pneumatic repair, RETS operation and repair, and performing specialized GRC tasks as directed. The worker will also assist skilled trades by performing duties requiring lesser skill, operate the range control station computer at small arms pop-up ranges, perform basic small arms range component PMCS, compile statistical data, produce reports on maintenance activity and small arms range utilization, and interface with various units conducting small arms training. Additionally, the role includes vegetation control, minor erosion control, repairing and painting fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings, assisting with the repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment, and cleaning various areas such as comfort stations, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots. The position also supports all target maintenance activities, performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings (including carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and erosion repair), keeps target locations clean, cleans floors, windows, and bathrooms, operates material handling equipment, prepares material or equipment for transport or storage, performs vehicle maintenance (including component, fluid, and filter changes), maintains vehicle appearance, fuels vehicles, and maintains records. Safety equipment maintenance and requisitioning are also part of the duties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working erosion control and grounds construction.
  • Current Alabama Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
  • All employees will be subject to pre-employment drug screening and any offer of employment shall be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

  • Vehicle maintenance experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in target fabrication and repair, pneumatic repair, and RETS operation and repair.
  • Perform specialized GRC tasks, maintenance, and operations as directed by the Crew Supervisor.
  • Helps DS/GS Technician by performing duties requiring lesser skill.
  • Assists other workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing duties requiring lesser skill.
  • Operates the range control station computer at small arms pop-up range.
  • Performs basic small arms range component PMCS.
  • Compile statistical data and produce reports on maintenance activity and small arms range utilization.
  • Interface with various units conducting small arms training and qualification.
  • Conduct vegetation control, minor erosion control and other tasks assigned.
  • Repairing and painting fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails and outbuildings.
  • Assisting with the repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment.
  • Cleaning comfort stations, offices workshop areas and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing.
  • Supports all target maintenance activities for the ranges.
  • Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, including carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and erosion repair.
  • Keeps target locations clean and clear of vegetation and grass.
  • Cleans floors, windows, bathrooms and other areas.
  • Operates powered and manual material handling equipment to transport material to truck for loading and off-loading.
  • Prepares material or equipment for packing, transportation, storage, or removal.
  • Performs vehicle maintenance, including changing components, fluids and filters.
  • Maintains vehicle appearance, fuels vehicles, and maintains records of fuel consumed, mileage traveled, stops and persons contacted.
  • Maintains safety equipment assigned to vehicle and requisitions additions or replacements when consumed.
