About The Position

This is a 12-month, Non-Exempt position with terms of employment falling under the AFSCME UA, Grade 13-14 salary scale. The role requires a minimum of three years of experience in a construction or maintenance trade, with a working knowledge of at least one building trade. The position involves performing various maintenance duties, working at elevated heights, and utilizing technology for work order systems and timekeeping. The job also requires the ability to operate commercial vehicles and trailers, and to communicate effectively with staff. The role may involve working under disagreeable conditions and requires a willingness to work overtime in emergencies and to undergo additional training.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience required in construction or maintenance trade.
  • A working knowledge of one or more of the building trades is required.
  • Ability to use simple shop mathematics, read drawings and specifications, and use trade tools.
  • Ability to expend considerable physical effort at frequent intervals.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and safety in performance of work.
  • Capability of performing required work under disagreeable working conditions such as rain, snow, extremes in temperature, mud, dust, etc.
  • A Maryland Class C Driver’s license required.
  • A willingness to take such additional training as required to successfully perform assigned duties.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required in cases of emergency.
  • Ability to work from step and extension ladders, scaffolds, man lifts, scissor lifts, aerial boom lifts, and bucket trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance duties such as grounds maintenance and mowing, painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC filter changing.
  • Works at elevated heights.
  • Ability to use a smartphone, tablet, and laptop to access and enter information required for the maintenance work order system and timekeeping.
  • Ability to load and tow equipment trailers.
  • Ability to drive commercial-type service vehicles, trucks, and Vans.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with CCBOE staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Foreman.
