About The Position

Tessera is seeking a motivated General Maintenance Worker (GMW) to assist with the upkeep and repair of facilities for WSBOSC. This entry-level role performs unskilled semi-skilled maintenance tasks across building, plumbing, electrical, structural, grounds, and equipment systems. Working under the guidance of skilled tradesmen and foremen, the GMW will gain hands-on experience and develop skills toward becoming semi-skilled in building and equipment maintenance. Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma/GED is required.
  • 0-3 years in general Maintenance/closely related field.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in a variety of different environments, including high places.
  • Must have good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, physical fitness, and a good sense of balance.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking.
  • Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
  • No employee or representative of the Contractor will be admitted to the site of work unless satisfactory proof of U.S. citizenship is furnished.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a variety of tasks, which may include applying touch-up paint, caulking, replacing floor and ceiling tile, replacing electrical outlets, switching covers and bulbs, repairing/replacing door hardware, cleaning roof drains and gutters.
  • Assist skilled workers in performing various electrical, carpentry, plumbing, or masonry work.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Communicate and interact directly with the customer and supervisors, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Ensure completed work meets quality control standards.
  • Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to customers and supervisors.
  • Communicate with the scheduler to update the status of repairs and estimate completion dates.
