About The Position

Under minimal supervision, a General Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and HVAC systems within a warehouse facility. This role also involves performing other general functions such as painting and carpentry work. Key responsibilities include evaluating systems and the overall condition of the facility to determine repair and maintenance needs, planning and prioritizing work assignments with a supervisor, and completing tasks safely, effectively, and in a timely manner. The technician is expected to communicate with leads, supervisors, and managers regarding planned activities, identify and troubleshoot equipment or product location issues, and escalate problems that cannot be solved according to guidelines. This is a non-exempt, hourly position eligible for overtime.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or its equivalent)
  • At least 2 years of related work experience in a maintenance and repair job; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to complete the responsibilities of this position
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Knowledge of building systems, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Ability to read in English
  • Able to follow standard operation and safety procedures
  • Able to work in an environment that is not climate controlled
  • Able to work under time pressure and meet production goals
  • Able to work more than 8 hours per day (over-time) as needed
  • Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate systems and overall condition of the facility to determine repair and maintenance needs
  • Work with the supervisor to plan and prioritize work assignments
  • Complete maintenance and repair work safely, effectively and in a timely manner
  • Communicate with leads, supervisors, and managers to keep them informed of planned activities that affect them
  • Identify and/or troubleshoot issues with equipment or with product locations
  • Escalate issues that cannot be solved to the appropriate parties in accordance with guidelines
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned
