About The Position

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the proper functioning and safety of the facility. This includes responding to work orders, conducting preventive maintenance, and assisting with repairs across various building systems. The role requires basic computer skills for managing work orders and communication, and involves physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, and standing for extended periods. The technician will make decisions based on established procedures and policies, with potential for short-term impact from errors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Requires general knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing systems, fire system devices and air systems.
  • Requires the ability to read and interpret information from blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
  • Requires general knowledge in the use of power and hand tools.
  • Requires basic computer skills.
  • Uses computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training.
  • Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook.
  • Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Performs assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Performs scheduled and non-scheduled preventive maintenance.
  • Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
  • Assists with repairs of buildings and installed systems to include: plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop, and HVAC.
  • Maintains lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing bulbs and lamps.
  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Maintain, repair and inspect specialized machinery and equipment.
  • Perform routine building and grounds inspections.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
