About The Position

The General Maintenance Technician performs a variety of tasks to ensure the physical properties of the Employer are well-maintained and functional. This includes painting, refinishing, construction, remodeling, and repairing various systems such as plumbing, electrical, heating, and ventilating. The role also involves maintaining outdoor areas like roadways, lawns, and athletic fields, as well as managing records, inventory, and ensuring safe working practices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to pass a district written and physical test.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Paint, refinish, construct and remodel physical properties of the Employer.
  • Repair and maintain the plumbing, electrical systems, hardware, heating and ventilating, furniture and equipment, and general structure of the physical properties of the Employer.
  • Maintain school roadways, lawns, shrubbery, trees, fencing, drains, playgrounds and their equipment, and athletic fields and their equipment, lawn care and maintenance equipment, including checking fluid levels of maintenance vehicles.
  • Maintain records, inventory supplies, tools and equipment and provide for their safekeeping, as may be required.
  • Possess knowledge of and follow safe working practices in the maintenance trades, as well as knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements if employer-provided training has been completed to the satisfaction of the Employer.
